APIA Leichhardt First Grade Mens & Womens Match Previews – Sun 30 Mar 2025

Momentum Established as Rockdale to join Wanderers in Lambert Guestlist
APIA Leichhardt FC Men’s First Grade: Round 7 Match Report v Western Sydney Wanderers and Round 8 Preview v Rockdale Ilinden
APIA Leichhardt Men’s First Grade delivered an exceptional performance last Saturday evening, securing a commanding 6-1 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers’ Youth at Lambert Park. The match showcased APIA’s offensive prowess and set a positive tone as they approach their upcoming clash with 2024 Waratah Cup Final opponents Rockdale at home.
The game commenced with APIA asserting dominance early on. Jordan Segreto opened the scoring in the 6th minute, capitalising on defensive gaps to net the first goal. The momentum continued as Presley Ortiz doubled the lead at the 30-minute mark with a solo effort, followed by Jack Stewart’s precise strike from a tight angle five minutes later, bringing the score to 3-0.
Although the Wanderers managed to pull one back through Badolato, Ortiz responded swiftly, securing his brace just before halftime with an assist from Seiya Kambayashi.
In the second half, APIA maintained control. Alex Denmead extended the lead with a goal in the 70th minute, and Kambayashi sealed the emphatic win with his first goal in the 85th minute. This comprehensive victory underscores APIA’s attacking capabilities and resilience.
Looking ahead, APIA Leichhardt FC is set to face Rockdale Ilinden FC this Sunday at 3:00 PM at Lambert Park. This fixture is highly anticipated, given the history between the two sides. In their last encounter at Lambert Park on February 12, 2023, APIA dominated with a 6-0 victory over Rockdale. However, subsequent meetings have been closely contested, highlighting the competitive nature of this rivalry.
Rockdale Ilinden has demonstrated strong form in recent seasons, including securing the 2024 NPL Men’s NSW Premiership. Their attacking lineup, led by standout players, poses a significant challenge for APIA’s defense. Fans can expect a thrilling match as both teams vie for crucial points in the league standings.
Supporters are encouraged to get behind the team as they aim for three crucial points. Tickets to the clash are available at the Lambert Park gates with adult tickets priced at $15, concession $10, and children under 16 able to attend for free. Four From Four The Aim as APIA Women Hit The Road in High Spirits
APIA Leichhardt FC Women’s First Grade: Round 3 Match Report v UNSW FC and Round 4 Preview v Mt Druitt Town Rangers APIA Leichhardt Women’s First Grade continued their impressive start to the season with a thrilling 2-1 win over UNSW at Lambert Park. The late winner secured APIA’s third consecutive victory, keeping them at the top of the league table.
APIA started strongly, breaking the deadlock in the 28th minute when Gisella Pipino capitalised on a defensive error. She intercepted a wayward back pass and produced a clinical finish past the UNSW goalkeeper to put the home side in front.
Despite the setback, UNSW responded with a moment of magic just before halftime. Demi Koulizakis struck a stunning long-range effort that curled and dipped past Sophie Magus, levelling the score at 1-1 in the 42nd minute.
The game looked destined for a draw until APIA once again showcased their knack for late heroics. Deep into stoppage time, Charlotte Lancaster delivered a pinpoint cross, and Brinley Gentle met it with a powerful header in the 92nd minute, securing all three points in dramatic fashion.
Attention now shifts to this weekend’s highly anticipated clash as APIA travels to Popondetta Park to face Mt Druitt Town Rangers on Sunday at 5PM.
Both teams remain unbeaten, with APIA looking to maintain their perfect record, while the Rangers aim to continue their solid start. Despite sitting in fifth place, Mt Druitt has yet to concede a goal this season, boasting three consecutive clean sheets. However, their attacking output has raised concerns, with just one goal in three games.
APIA, on the other hand, has been relentless in front of goal, scoring in every match so far – though half of their goals have come from set pieces. Defensively, Brad Attard’s side have managed just the one clean sheet, suggesting there’s still room for improvement.
With APIA chasing another three points and Mt Druitt eager to prove themselves against the league leaders, this promises to be a thrilling contest. Fans won’t want to miss this battle between two of the competition’s strongest teams!
