APIA represents the region at the highest level. The club has been selected by Football NSW to represent the district and region at the highest level of football in NSW. A.P.I.A. Leichhardt Tigers, at the NSW Premier League level.
APIA is one of Australia’s pioneer football clubs having been formed in 1954 in the suburb of Leichhardt – a club that has great presence and commands respect not only from our local community, but nationally.
We have national significance throughout our 60 year history having produced the greatest number of Socceroos and Australian Team captains than any other football club in the history of Australian Soccer during its 60 year illustrious history.
In the past number of years the club has provided a pathway for Franco Parisi (Newcastle Jets), Blake Powell (Wellington Phoenix) Marc Warren (Perth Glory) David Dapuzzo (Central Coast Mariners) George Blackwood (Sydney FC) Lachlan Scott (Western Sydney Wanderers) Marton Vass (North Queensland Fury), Matthew Nash (Newcastle Jets, Central Coast Mariners).
The club last won the Championship in 2003 led by Les De Ceglie with illustrious names such as Arambasic, Stergiopolous, Nikas, Karavatakis, Catlin, La Rocca, Galluzzo spearheading the team.
